Introduction to the Opportunity

The SAAFE program supports early-career researchers at the PhD and postdoctoral levels to develop research and innovation activities in health, environment, and nuclear technology fields to establish sustainable research networks and links between Australia, New Zealand, and France.

Benefits and Funding

The program provides funding for the following expenses:

• Cost of a round-trip flight between France and Australia or New Zealand (up to $4800 AUD)
• $200 AUD per week for accommodation costs

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be researchers in the field of nuclear science leading to collaboration between France and Australia/New Zealand.

Additional Criteria:

• Enrolled in a research PhD at a French university or AINSE member
• Enrolled in a PhD in collaboration with a French university or AINSE member
• Holding a postdoctoral position at a French university or AINSE member

The candidate must be conducting research using nuclear science techniques that stimulate collaborations between France and Australia/New Zealand, in at least one of the following fields: health, environment, nuclear technology.

• Certified transcript of academic records
• Detailed CV with a list of relevant publications and experiences
• Letter of motivation from the principal supervisor detailing the proposed project
• Letter of invitation from the host institution
• Letter of recommendation from the thesis director or postdoctoral research supervisor

Selection of Candidates

All applications are evaluated by an AINSE specialist committee and the SAAFE committee.
