The André Mandouze scholarship is an exciting opportunity for Algerian researchers in the fields of history and memory studies. This annual scholarship program provides high-level scientific stays for Algerian researchers in the human and social sciences. The selected individuals will have the opportunity to work with French research teams on archival funds, collections of testimonies, and memory-related questions.

Benefits and Funding

The scholarship offers two categories of support:

  • Level 1 Scholarship: €1,704 net per month for doctoral students and post-doctoral students who defended their thesis less than 5 years ago.
  • Level 2 Scholarship: €2,055 net per month for researchers who have obtained a thesis more than 5 years ago.

The scholarship duration ranges from 15 days to 3 months, providing a flexible timeframe for research and exploration.

Eligibility Criteria

The following criteria must be met:

  • No age limit
  • Level 1: Doctoral students and post-doctoral students who defended their thesis less than 5 years ago
  • Level 2: Researchers who have obtained a thesis more than 5 years ago (excluding doctoral students already registered in France)

How to Apply

The application process involves the following steps:

  1. Submit a 2-page CV.
  2. Complete and submit the application form in Excel format.
  3. Provide a 4-page research project description.
  4. Obtain a letter from the host laboratory in France, if possible.
  5. Include a letter of support from the thesis director for doctoral students.

Selection Process

An international jury of experts will review the applications and make the final selection. The winners will be notified individually, and the scholarship must be utilized by December 31, 2024.
