Many international students dream of studying in USA, UK, Australia and other Western Countries not knowing that there are great opportunities to pursue free studies at world-renowned Universities and Colleges in the Asian Continent. There are actually a good number of scholarships in Asia for international students offered by the governments of Asian countries and top Universities in Asia.


 

Japanese Government Scholarships
The  Japanese Government offers scholarships in Japan to international students who wish to study at Japanese universities as undergraduate and research students under the Japanese Government Scholarship Program.  The scholarships cover allowance, travelling costs, and school fees.

Chinese Government-Bilateral Program for International Students
Chinese Government Scholarship—Bilateral Program includes a full or partial scholarship established by MOE in accordance with educational exchange agreements or MOUs between Chinese government and governments of other countries, institutions, universities and international organizations.  It supports undergraduate programs, master’s programs, doctoral programs, general scholar programs and senior scholar programs.    Full scholarship includes school fees, monthly allowance, one-off subsidies, insurance, etc while Partial scholarship includes one or some items of the full scholarship items.

Taiwan Government Scholarships
The Taiwan Government through the Ministry of Education (MOE) offers Bachelors, Masters, and PhD  scholarships for international students who wants to study in Taiwan Colleges and Universities through the Taiwan Scholarship Program.  The scholarships cover tuition and payment of academic fees and subsistence allowance.

Korean Government Scholarships
The Korean Government Scholarship Program is designed to provide international students with an opportunity to conduct advanced studies at higher educational institutions in Korea and to develop global leaders and strengthen Korea-friendly networks worldwide.  The scholarships cover tuition, allowance, travel, airfare, medical insurance, etc.

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme for International Students
The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme aims to attract outstanding students in the world to pursue their PhD degree programmes in Hong Kong’s institutions.  The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately US$2,600) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year for a maximum period of three years.

Singapore International Graduate Award
Singapore International Graduate Award are given to international students with excellent academic undergraduate and/or master’s results, and strong interest in doing research leading to a doctorate (PhD) in Science and Engineering at a Singapore University.  The award provides financial support for up to 4 years of PhD studies including full tuition fees, monthly stipend, settlement allowance, and airfare grant.

Malaysian International Scholarships
The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) for International Students is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract the best brains from around the world to pursue advanced academic studies in Malaysia. The scholarship aims to support Malaysian Government’s effort to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad.  Each scholarship consists of air tickets from recipient’s capital city to Malaysia,  approved tuition fees, monthly maintenance allowance, annual grant for books and internal travel, medical/health Insurance, installation and termination grant, thesis allowance, and visa costs.

Turkiye Postgraduate Scholarships for International Students
Türkiye Scholarships Postgraduate Programmes are full government funded programmes for successful international students from all over the world for postgraduate studies in Turkey.  The scholarship includes monthly stipend (app. 375 USD for master’s, 500 USD for doctorate), full tuition fee, free 1-year Turkish language course, free state-run dormitory accommodation, round-trip air ticket and health insurance.

The University of Tokyo Fellowships for International Students
The University of Tokyo Fellowships provides a research grant to high-achieving, postgraduate international students who are privately-funded to assist their academic pursuits at the University and at promoting a greater acceptance of excellent students from overseas.  Recipients will receive a monthly research grant of ¥150,000-¥200,000 during the standard period of their program (up to one year for research students).

Peking University Academic Excellence Scholarships
The Peking University Academic Excellence Scholarships are for third year undergraduates, masters, and doctoral exchange students. The scholarships range from 3,000-10,000 RMB.

The University of Hong Kong Scholarships for International Students
Entrance Scholarships are available to students (local and international) when you apply to study at The University of Hong Kong, and are awarded on the basis of academic merits with consideration of non-academic achievement.  The scholarships can fund up to full tuition fee waiver plus personal / living expenses.

National University Singapore ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarships
The ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship is a freshmen scholarship offered to support outstanding students from ASEAN member countries (excluding Singapore).  The scholarships cover tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant Subsidy) and $5,800 annual living allowance.

ADB Japan Scholarship Program
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP)  aims to provide opportunities for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to undertake postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region.  The ADB-JSP provides full tuition fees, a monthly subsistence and housing allowance, an allowance for books and instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses.
