With the help of this grant, Ph.D. students in the Faculty of Arts will be able to support their fieldwork, gathering primary data for their thesis only in a field setting (for instance, a project that qualifies for funding may need access to specific communities, natural settings, native languages, historical sites, or oral histories).
Eligibility for the Arts PhD Fieldwork Grant at the University of Melbourne:

- Be enrolled and confirmed in a PhD in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne.
- Use fieldwork as your primary research methodology, with strong support from your Advisory Committee.
- Have an approved Research Expenses Plan at Confirmation of Candidature.
- Meet all relevant University policies, including research integrity, student travel, and academic progress.
