Under the joint supervision of a professor from their home country and a host country professor, selected undergraduate graduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers receive a 6,000-dollar research award to carry out a 12–24 week research project in the other country. These awards are granted jointly with Mitacs’ Canadian postsecondary partners (and sometimes international partners) and subject to funding availability.

Mitacs Globalink Research Awards are currently available for researchers from over 70 universities in Canada. Since 2014, the French Embassy in Canada has partnered with Mitacs to offer 15 mobility awards annually to Canadian students (excluding Quebec) seeking an experience in France.
