Description

Bird Photographer of the Year (BPOTY) has opened entries for its international competition dedicated to bird photography, bringing together professional and amateur photographers from around the world to celebrate the beauty, diversity, behavior, and environmental relationships of birds.

The competition covers a wide range of bird photography styles, including portraits, birds in their natural environment, behavior, flight, black and white photography, creative photography, urban birds, and conservation-related photography.

Participants may submit a single image or multiple images. There are also special awards for the best portfolio and for projects documenting bird and nature conservation issues. A separate free competition is also available for young photographers.

How to Apply

  • Each individual image requires 1 credit.
  • The Portfolio Award and Conservation Award require 6 credits, as each entry consists of a series of images.
  • Upload the images and select the appropriate category.
  • Add the required image information and description.
  • Submit the entry before the deadline.

The competition is open to photographers from around the world, with no specific country requirement. It is a paid competition, with Entry Credits available for purchase. The deadline for submissions is December 14, 2026.
