Eligibility for Volkswagen Foundation Opus Magnum Scholarship in Germany -

  • The applicants should have a permanent position as a professor at a German university.
  • The funding may not be provided for editing volumes, textbooks, translations, and manuals.

Documents Required:

  • The applicants should submit a cover letter, which should include the proposed recipient of funds.
  • A copy of the project outline in English and German on a maximum of one page.
  • A detailed project description should be submitted in a maximum of 12 pages which should include the details of objectives, innovation potential, and the methods to be employed.
  • A list of publications done by the candidate shall be mentioned.
  • A detailed CV of the applicant.
  • The time, work plan, and recurring costs for the project should be mentioned.
  • Applicants are also asked to submit a description of the publication concept and a letter of interest from a publishing company.

Value of Volkswagen Foundation's Opus Magnum Scholarship in Germany :

  • The successful applicant will receive up to EUR 195,000
  • The Volkswagen Foundation's Opus Magnum Scholarship will fund a substitute professorship for a leave of absence of 6 months to up to 18 months and up to 5,000 Euros per semester for further non-personnel expenses for the candidate.
