The University receives an allocation of the Childcare Fund from the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS). The Childcare Fund is intended to provide a significant contribution to childcare costs.

Eligibility for University of Strathclyde Childcare Funding:

  • Be UK domiciled and ordinarily resident in Scotland at the start of the academic year.
  • Receive the full SAAS funding package, including:
    • Tuition fees
    • Full living-cost loan
    • Special support loan
  • Be enrolled in an eligible full-time course.
  • Have claimed all other available support, such as:
    • Student loans and bursaries
    • Lone Parents Grant (if applicable)
    • Child Tax Credits, free nursery places, etc.
  • Pay for registered childcare (provider must be registered with the Care Inspectorate).
  • Meet SAAS tuition fee support eligibility.

Application Process:

Students have to apply to the childcare fund each semester. The current application is to cover semester 1 childcare. Students who apply for support with semester 1 childcare will be contacted when applications open for semester 2.
