The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) is offering 50 scholarships for the academic year 2016-17 under its Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology. The scholarships are open to permanent employees of academic institutions or research centers from IDB member countries who meet the program's eligibility requirements. The program aims to support promising Ph.D. students pursuing a full-time three-year study in scientific disciplines that focus on development in IDB member countries, with priority given to Health/Medicine, Agriculture/Food Production, Water Resources/Desertification, Energy/Infrastructure Development, Nanotechnology, and ICT for Development. Successful Ph.D. candidates must secure admission at one of the universities listed in the Times Higher Education Supplement (THES). Post-doctoral research applications are also invited to address problem-solving matters in member countries through specific innovative projects at Research Centres of Excellence. The successful candidate for the Postdoctoral Research Project must secure an invitation letter from one of these centers and not from a university. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living allowance, health insurance, and round-trip airfare. Applicants should visit the IDB website to download the application form and read full information about eligibility requirements, how to apply, program benefits, and facilities. Applications must be sent through the office of the IDB Governor for the applicant's country by February 29, 2016.
