The Sony Future Filmmaker Awards have officially opened for entries for their 2027 edition.
Filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit their short films for free.
Now in their fifth year, the Awards continue to grow, offering emerging filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their work on a global stage, build industry connections and develop their craft through an exclusive industry program.
This year, the Awards introduce a brand new Immersive category, presented by Meta, celebrating how immersive formats expand the way we experience storytelling.
The new category joins the existing Fiction, Non-Fiction, Animation, Student and Future Format, bringing the total number of award categories to six.
The filmmakers behind 34 shortlisted films will be flown to Los Angeles to attend a four-day industry program on the Sony Pictures Studios lot to help elevate their careers.
Participants will learn from Sony Pictures executives through workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions, screenings, demos, tours and Q&As, gaining first-hand insight into the creative and business sides of filmmaking.
The program concludes with a red carpet Awards ceremony on the Sony Pictures Studios lot, giving shortlisted filmmakers the opportunity to celebrate alongside fellow creatives while networking with industry experts.
Filmmakers at every stage of their careers are encouraged to take the next exciting step in their filmmaking journey by entering the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards 2027.
