The 2024-25 CYD Master Thesis Fellowship in Switzerland is available to applicants of all nationalities pursuing a Master’s degree in Cyber Defence-related courses. The application deadline is August 15, 2024. This fellowship is part of the CYD Fellowships – A Talent Program for Cyber-Defence Research,” a joint initiative by EPFL and the Cyber-Defence (CYD) Campus aimed at advancing research and education in cyber defence. With the exponential growth in network connectivity, cyber threats are increasing, offering numerous opportunities for malicious actors to cause significant commercial, political, or other types of harm.

Benefits

  • Living Allowances: CYD Master Thesis fellows receive a living allowance equal to CHF 2,000 for six months.
  • Research Cost: A maximum amount of CHF 1500 is awarded. (only for specific equipment needed for the project, not general IT material)

Eligibility for CYD Master Thesis Fellowship 2024

  • Citizens of any nationality may apply for the CYD Master Thesis Fellowships.
  • No age restrictions apply.
  • Applicants for CYD Master Thesis Fellowships must be enrolled in a Master’s program at a higher education institution (university or school of applied sciences) in Switzerland and have the endorsement of a professor employed in this institution willing to supervise them.

Application of CYD Master Thesis Fellowship 2024

Additional Documents:

  • A letter of motivation is required, explaining why your planned research is original and why you are qualified for the fellowship and briefly describing your research achievements (maximum 2 pages).
  • A curriculum vitae is required, including a list of all your publications (if relevant).
  • A copy of all your diplomas and grade transcripts is required.
  • The name and contact details of two referees are required.

Application Process:

  • The submitted applications will be evaluated by a CYD Campus internal committee.
  • Only those applicants who are endorsed by their prospective CYD Campus mentor will be able to proceed to the final stage.
