The Fondation Jacques Rougerie – Académie des Beaux-Arts has launched the 2026 edition of their international Architecture and Innovation Competition.
The competition is open for architectural project related to flood-prone lands, the sea, or space.
In 2026, a total of six International Grand Prizes will be awarded, each endowed with €7,000, for a total prize fund of €42,000.
For this new edition, the competition evolves and is now structured around three major themes, each divided into two categories: Prospective and Lab.
The Foundation aims to offer architects, designers, engineers, urban planners, inventors, artists, and professionals from all disciplines a unique opportunity to propose bold projects.
These architectural projects, grounded in emerging advances and driven by either a forward-looking or practical vision, must address the major challenges facing humanity today in pursuit of greater environmental, industrial, and technical responsibility. They must adhere to the principles of sustainable development and contribute to integrating the sea, space, and rising sea levels into the development of our society.
In addition to financial support, the Laureates will benefit from the Foundation’s guidance to further develop their project. They may draw upon the Foundation’s network of experts.
Participation in the competition is open to students, professionals, researchers, creators, designers, artists, and others. A participant may enter the 2026 competition only once and with a single project. Multiple submissions will automatically result in individual or collective disqualification in the case of team participation.
Created in 2009 under the auspices of the Académie des beaux-arts and placed under the honorary presidency of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Fondation Jacques Rougerie is a laboratory of ideas and action dedicated to the future of human living environments in response to major climate, oceanic, and space-related challenges.
