MIT International Students Financial Aid meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for international students, just as it does for domestic students. Financial aid applications must be submitted simultaneously with the admission application, as international students cannot apply for financial aid post-admission.

Eligibility for  MIT International Students Financial Aid:

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:


  • Have applied for and received admission to an undergraduate program at MIT.
  • Have fulfilled all the entry/admission requirements for the undergraduate course of your choice
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Show proof of English proficiency (TOEFL and IELTS)

Application Requirements for MIT International Students Financial Aid:

  • CSS Profile provided by the College Board that is used to determine if you qualify for a need-based MIT Scholarship
  • Parental tax returns or income documentation: your parents’ tax returns or income documentation must be submitted through the College Board’s secure IDOC platform. 
  • If your parents live outside the U.S., please provide the tax return from that country, along with a translation to English if applicable.
  • If your parents are separated or divorced, each parent will need to complete their own CSS Profile application.

Application Process:

  • You must submit the CSS Profile to assess the eligibility of this scholarship.
  • Your parents’ tax returns or income documentation must be submitted through the College Board’s secure IDOC platform..
  • You must submit all documents directly to IDOC. We are not able to accept anything sent directly to MIT.

Deadlines:

Application deadlines are the same for both domestic and international students.


  • Early Action applicants: The application deadline for Early Action is November 30 and awards are released in mid-January.
  • Regular Action and transfer applicants: February 15. The application deadline is February 15. RA awards are released in mid-March. Transfer awards are released after admission decisions.
  • Continuing students: February 15. The financial aid application deadline for the following academic year is February 15. You will receive your award in late May or early June.
