Tapirulan Association opens registration for their 21st Illustrators Contest on the theme: FLOP. Any artist from any part of the world can enroll by sending an illustration in a square format.
The theme of this edition is “Flop”: Probably of onomatopoeic origin, from the English language, the term flop indicates a fall, a thud, a sudden collapse and, figuratively speaking, a colossal failure.
The first prize awarded by the jury is 3,000 Euro. The jury will select 52 illustrators for the exhibition at the Violin Museum in Cremona.
Artists of all nationalities are invited to participate.
Every candidate is allowed to submit only one brand-new work.
The first prize, awarded by the competition jury, is 3,000 Euro and an invitation for a solo exhibition at the Tapirulan Gallery, with the publication of the personal catalogue.
All selected artists will have their work exhibited in Italy, in Cremona in April 2026. Twelve (12) of the selected illustrators will have their work included in the Tapirulan Calendar.
All the registered subscribers of tapirulan.it will be able to express their preferential votes. The artist who will get most of the votes will be awarded a 500 Еuro prize.
The purpose of the Tapirulan contest is not only to award an illustrator, but also to produce an exciting exhibition, attract visitors and focus public attention on illustration as a profession. A rich and colorful exhibition made up of three sections: the 52 images selected by the jury, the winning illustrations from previous editions, and finally, the work of the special guest illustrator who chaired the Jury. The result is an exhibition of approximately 250 artworks.
