Who may enter
The competition is open to all artists, both amateur and professional, aged 15 years and over.
Short description
The Wildlife Artist of the Year is an annual wildlife art competition organized by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.
Entries must correspond to one of the eight categories:
• Abstract World
• Animal BehaviourÂ
• Earth’s Wild Beauty
• Environmental Artivism
• Facing Extinction
• Into the BlueÂ
• Wings
• Youth Exclusive (for artists aged 15 †19 years):
Mediums can include, but are not restricted to, oil, acrylic, watercolour, pencil, mixed media, bronze, plaster, wire, collage and textiles, with styles encompassing traditional, abstract, monochrome and many others †the choice is yours.Â
All entries must be sent in a digital format.
Entry feesÂ
The entry fee is ÂŁ25 per an artwork for the first two entries, thereafter it is ÂŁ15 per entry.Â
Entries to the Youth Exclusive (15 †19 years) is ÂŁ15 per entry.Â
Prizes
• First prize: ÂŁ5,000 personal cash prize and a ÂŁ5,000 voucher to donate, in the winner’s name, to a DSWF supported conservation initiative or species of the winner’s choice. Â
• Second prize: ÂŁ1,000 personal cash prize and a ÂŁ1,000 voucher to donate, in the winner’s name, to a DSWF supported conservation initiative or species of the winner’s choice. Â
• Category winners: ÂŁ500 cash prize per categoryÂ
• The Elizabeth Hosking Watercolour prize: £500 cash prize
• The Michelle Lee Howk First Time Entrants prize: £500 cash prize
• Youth Exclusive category winner:  £500 cash prize
