The Bedford Writing Competition is open for submissions for 2025. Here is a brief about the competition:

  • Poems - maximum 40 lines.
  • Short Story - maximum 3,000 words.

Entry fee:

  • £8.50 (GBP) or £6 (GBP) for students.


Entry Categories:

  • Main Poetry prize.
  • Main Short Story prize.
  • Cygnature prize (Poem) for entrants between 17 – 25.
  • Cygnature prize (Short Story) for entrants between 17 – 25.
  • Bedford prize (Poem) for residents within the Bedford (UK) area.
  • Bedford prize (Short Story) for residents within the Bedford (UK) area.

Judges:

  • Frank Lock, Toby Litt, Stephen Bywater, Rishi Dastidar, Kate Packman, Hazera Forth.

Prizes:

  • £2000 (GBP) for winning Poem.
  • £2000 (GBP) for winning Short Story.
  • Prizes also for winning Cygnature and Bedford competitions Poem and Short Story.
