Project description
The aim of this project is to create a better spatial hearing experience for users in a large region without the need to wear headphones. The research will include spatial audio signal processing, sound field recreation and noise reduction. The research will include a mixture of theoretical and numerical studies on 3D sound-field recording and recreation in both free-field and reverberant environment, followed by practical experimental implementation and perceptual study in the anechoic chamber and the listening room in the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, University of Southampton. Experimental equipment will include microphones, loudspeakers, and multi-channel audio interface. The results of this project can be used in home environment, especially in the open-plan living rooms.
