This writing competition is open to school students in three age categories: Junior (5-10 years old), Intermediate (11-14 years old), and Senior (15-18 years old). The theme is "Surprise, Surprise!" Participants can submit a story or poem about a surprise, a twist ending, or a deceptive character. The word limit is 500 words. Entry is free. The top prize is £300 for the winner and £1000 for their school library.
