Among the activities of the Scientific Interest Group (SIG) "African Studies in France," the bi-annual organization of REAF (Meetings of African Studies in France) helps to strengthen the networking of researchers working on various aspects of Africa, across different disciplines within the humanities and social sciences, literature, philosophy, environmental science, and economics.
In the context of organizing the 9th edition, the SIG African Studies in France is welcoming a trainee for a duration of 4 months (mid-March to mid-July 2026).
In collaboration with the support officer of the SIG and the organizing committee, the following missions will be undertaken :
– Exchanges with the organizing committee, workshop leaders, and logistics officers for the organization of workshops and program implementation;
– Monitoring and managing communications via the Sciencesconf platforms for REAF ( https://reaf2026.sciencesconf.org/ ) and uploading practical event information online;
– Managing participants: designing participation lists, tracking badge production, assessing the number of participants, linking different committees/groups, and assisting the organizing committee);
– Support for communication: documentation, editing summaries, programming elements, online program;
– Sending invitation/participation letters before and after the event;
– Receiving and hosting artists, editors, caterers, and invited researchers;
– Setting up schedules and supervising freelance staff during the event from June 29 to July 2, 2026
Skills :
- Master's level or equivalent
- Interest in the humanities sciences
- Organizational and communication abilities
- Writing skills and proficiency in office software (Word, Excel)
- Autonomy, precision, curiosity, interest in event organization, initiative, teamwork
- Availability, particularly during the event (June 29 to July 2, 2026) and the month preceding it
Location of the internship : Campus Condorcet, 5 Cours des Humanités 93322 Aubervilliers
The intern will be integrated into the team of the UAR 2999 "Area Studies" https://etudes-areales.cnrs.fr/. They will be directly supervised by the support officer for piloting the SIG African Studies, under the authority of the unit director. They will also collaborate with the SIG management team and researchers.
Remuneration: According to the applicable rates
35h/week with guidance from a stage supervisor
