The Act ON IMMIGRATION OF SKILLED WORKERS (FEG) aims to attract qualified workers from third countries to the German labor market. Skilled workers include holders of university degrees and people with qualified professional training.
The FEG is for two types of qualified workers:
Skilled workers with professional training: These are people who have completed qualified professional training. If the qualified vocational training has been acquired abroad, a German recognition body must check whether this vocational training corresponds to German vocational training before accessing the German labor market.
Qualified workers with a university degree: These are people who hold a German university degree or a comparable or recognized foreign diploma.
Unskilled or low-skilled workers are not qualified workers within the meaning of the FEG.
