The Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) is the leading independent philanthropy in the support of exchanging university students, scientists, and scholars between the United States and Belgium. Through its Exchange Fellowship Program, the BAEF offers numerous fellowships for Belgian citizens for graduate study or research in the United States. The fellowships are outright non-renewable grants of $30,000 for doctoral fellows; the Foundation also pays for coverage of health insurance on its own insurance policy. Fellows are expected to stay in the U.S. for 12 months. Applicants should be no more than 2 years into their Ph.D. program by July 1 of the fellowship year.
